About this course
In this course we will be showing you everything from buying equipment, to important subjects such as load data and headspace, all the way to seating your last bullet.
Before you begin it's a good idea to have some goals. Do you want to reload some hunting ammo? Would you like to fine tune ammo for your specific rifle? Or does reloading simply sound fun?
Have you been curious how ammo works? Or who sets the standards for all of the different cartridges you might see at the store? In this video we'll discuss what you should avoid and SAAMI specifications.
Now it's time to talk about gear! In this lesson we'll show you what comes in the Lee Challenger Kit, as well as some nice-to-haves. We made it easy to buy everything you need, check the links below the video.
In this lesson we'll talk about workspace and show you a neat quick change mount from Inline Fabrication.
In this lesson I'll talk about the importance of using published load data, as well as where to find free additional data online. I'll also mention some recommendations for powder, primers, and 55gr bullets for loading an AR (NOTE: The data I recommend is only a guideline. Always refer to a published manual and load their recommended "starting load" first!)
In this quick lesson I'll show you some ways to find once fired brass online.
In this lesson we go over what to look out for when sorting through your once fired brass.
It's time to start sizing our brass! In this lesson we'll show you how to set up the Hornady full length sizing die and show you how to avoid denting your case necks.
In this lesson we'll explain what headspace is, why it's important, and show you some examples of what to look out for. Then, Kyle tells his headspace story.
In order to seat new primers we need to ream the primer pockets. In this lesson we'll show you how to ream out the primer pockets and show what a properly reamed primer pocket looks like.
In this lesson we'll discuss three different trimming options before showing you how to trim with each one in separate lessons. You only need to use one of these options. All of them work great so feel free to use whichever one appeals to you the most!
Looking to save some bench space? The Lee Quick Trim could be for you! In this lesson we'll show you how to use the Lee Quick Trim system.
Want to skip the caliber specific options and useĀ a universal trimmer instead? In this lesson we'll show you how to setup the RCBS Trim Pro II. These trimmers are great as you'll have what you need to trim other calibers in the future!
We'll show you how to setup and use the Lee Cutter & Case Gauge trimming system. Being both fast and accurate, this is our pick for reloading bulk .223 ammo. And you can't beat the price!
We'll show you a quick look at two different case cleaning options- dry tumbling and wet tumbling. During this course we'll be covering wet tumbling as it's a bit more involved.
This is our last step in brass preparation! It's time to clean our cases, in this lesson I'll show you my wet tumbling process.
In this video I show you my process for dry tumbling brass. Dry tumbling is a great option if you're on a budget or don't want to deal with the hassles of wet tumbling.
In this lesson I'll show you how to prime cases using the Lee press priming system that came with our kit. I'll also discuss the other various priming options.
Before we throw powder, we'll discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages of beam scales and electronic scales.
Before we use our Lee scale it's important to zero it out first, in this lesson I'll show you how to setup and read the Lee scale.
In this lesson we'll show you how to use and adjust adjust the Lee powder measure.
Now that our powder measure is set it's time to adjust our Lee scale to read the correct powder charge. If you own both a beam scale and electronic scale, it's always a good idea to cross reference the scales.
This is our final step before we can head to the range and shoot our ammo! In this lesson I'll show you how to setup the Hornady bullet seating die, talk about crimping, and show you a neat trick to help your bullet seating consistency.
It's time for the range! Kyle and Roy discuss range day and show the accuracy of the ammo made during this course.
